Resaca is a small, unincorporated community in Monroe Township, Madison County, Ohio, United States. An unincorporated community is a group of homes and businesses that isn't officially part of a city or town. This means it doesn't have its own local government, like a mayor or city council. Resaca is located where Finley Guy Road and Woods and W Avenue meet.

A Look Back at Resaca

Resaca might not be a big city, but it has its own interesting history! Even though it was never officially "platted" (meaning its streets and lots weren't formally mapped out and recorded like a new town), it still had important services for its residents.

Early Days and Services

One key part of Resaca's past was its Post Office. It opened on March 16, 1887, helping people send and receive mail. By 1915, the community was home to about 30 people. It had a few businesses that served the locals.

These businesses included:

  • two general stores, where people could buy everyday items
  • one blacksmith, who made and repaired things out of metal
  • one physician, a doctor who took care of people's health
  • a poolroom, a place for recreation and socializing

Changes Over Time

The Resaca Post Office eventually closed its doors on December 15, 1905. Today, mail service for the area is handled through the Plain City branch. This shows how small communities can change over time, with services moving to nearby larger towns.
