Playing career 1995–2015

Reto von Arx was a fantastic Swiss ice hockey player. He was born on September 13, 1976. He played as a center, which is a key position in ice hockey. Reto spent most of his amazing career playing in Switzerland's top league, the National League A (NLA). He also had a short time playing in the famous National Hockey League (NHL) in North America. After he stopped playing, he became a coach.

Reto von Arx: Ice Hockey Star

Reto von Arx started his hockey journey with SC Langnau in Switzerland. He played in the country's second-highest league before joining HC Davos in 1995. HC Davos is one of the top teams in the National League A (NLA).

Playing in the NHL

In 2000, Reto was chosen by the Chicago Blackhawks in the NHL Draft. He was the 271st player picked that year. He played 19 games for the Blackhawks during the 2000–01 season. He also played for their minor league team, the Norfolk Admirals, before returning to Switzerland.

A Swiss Hockey Legend

Reto von Arx retired from playing professional hockey in 2015. He played all of his 1004 NLA games with HC Davos. This is a huge number of games for one team! With HC Davos, he won the Swiss championship six times. He also helped his team win the Spengler Cup twice, in 2006 and 2011. The Spengler Cup is a very old and famous international ice hockey tournament.

Reto was recognized as one of the best players in the NLA. He was named the Most Valuable Player (MVP) three times: in 2001–02, 2005–06, and 2008–09.

Playing for Switzerland

Reto also played for the Swiss national team. He represented his country at the 2002 Winter Olympics in Salt Lake City. He also played in four World Championships.

After Playing: Coaching Career

After retiring as a player, Reto von Arx started a new career as a coach. In 2015, he became an assistant coach for the Swiss national team. He worked alongside Felix Hollenstein and head coach Patrick Fischer. Reto stayed in this role until July 2016. After that, he joined the coaching staff for the Swiss under-17 national team. He is currently the head coach of EHC Chur.
