Reuben Cotter (born 28 December 1998) is an Australian professional rugby league player. He is known for his strong playing style. Reuben captains and plays for the North Queensland Cowboys in the National Rugby League (NRL). He also represents Australia at an international level.
Reuben usually plays as a lock (lock) or prop (prop). Earlier in his career, he also played as a hooker (hooker). He has proudly played for Queensland in the famous State of Origin series.

Reuben Cotter was born in Mackay, Queensland, Australia. He has a diverse background, including Torres Strait Islander heritage.
He started playing rugby league as a junior for the Sarina Crocs. Reuben went to Sarina State High School. In 2011, he was the captain of the Central Queensland under-13 team. Later, he joined the North Queensland Cowboys academy. This academy helps young players develop their skills.
Playing Career Highlights
Early Days in Rugby League
In 2013 and 2014, Reuben played for the Mackay Cutters' junior teams. These teams are part of youth competitions. In 2014, he played for the Queensland Murri under-16 team. He also captained the Queensland under-16 team. Both teams won their games against New South Wales.
In 2015, Reuben moved up to the Cutters' next youth team. He was chosen for the Queensland under-18 side. They beat New South Wales 22–18. In September 2015, Reuben was picked for the Australian Schoolboys team. He scored a try in their big 70–24 win against New Zealand.
In 2016, Reuben joined the North Queensland Cowboys under-20 team. Sadly, he played only two games before getting a serious knee injury. This injury kept him out for the whole season. In 2017, he got another serious knee injury. This meant he missed all of the 2017 and 2018 seasons. It was a tough time for him.
Starting in the NRL (2019)
In 2019, Reuben joined the North Queensland Cowboys NRL squad. He was a development player, meaning he was training to become a full-time NRL player. In February, he played his first game in almost two years. It was a pre-season game against the Gold Coast Titans.
Reuben started the 2019 season playing for the Mackay Cutters. This team is linked to the Cowboys. He scored nine tries in 15 games for them. In Round 13 of the 2019 NRL season, Reuben made his official NRL debut. He played for the North Queensland Cowboys against the Manly-Warringah Sea Eagles. He played five games in his first season, always coming off the bench. In September, he signed a new contract with the Cowboys.
Continuing His Journey (2020-2021)
Reuben started the 2020 season with the Mackay Cutters again. He scored two tries in one game. He returned to the North Queensland Cowboys in Round 5. He played four games coming off the bench. In Round 15, he started at hooker for the first time. He finished the season as the team's starting hooker. He played six games in this position. In September, he signed another contract with the Cowboys until 2022.
In the 2021 NRL season, Reuben played six games for the North Queensland Cowboys. The team finished 15th on the ladder that year.
Big Achievements (2022-2024)
In June 2022, Reuben was chosen to play for Queensland in the 2022 State of Origin series. Queensland won the first game 16-10. Reuben played 18 matches for North Queensland in the 2022 NRL season. The team finished third and made it to the finals. He played in both finals matches. This included their preliminary final loss to Parramatta, where he scored a try.
In October 2022, he was named in the Australia squad for the 2021 Rugby League World Cup. He played two games in this big international tournament.
