WDG: An LGBT News Website
Reut Naggar, along with George Avni, created WDG.co.il. This is Israel's only independent news website for the LGBT community. They started the site to give a voice to LGBT people in Israel. It shares news from Israel and around the world, written in a way that connects with the community. The website shows different points of view, helps break down stereotypes, and encourages people to get involved in activities.
"Lesbihonest" Theater Show
In 2016, Naggar produced a show called "Lesbihonest" with actress and poet Mika Ben Shaul. The show features funny sketches, songs, and poems about women who love women. It first played at the LGBT center in Tel Aviv. After that, it toured all over Israel, including cities like Jerusalem and Haifa. Today, "Lesbihonest" is regularly performed at Israel's national theater, HaBima.
That same year, "Time Out Tel Aviv" magazine chose Naggar as one of the most important women in the LGBT community. In 2017, Naggar started a band called "Pashoot" for the tenth anniversary of the Lethal Lesbian Film Festival. She performed with her band at the festival. She lives in Tel Aviv.
Public and Political Work
Reut Naggar is very active in supporting LGBT rights, feminism (which means believing in equal rights for women), and gender equality in Israel.
Leading Campaigns
She was one of the leaders of the "Women at the Front" campaign in 2016. This campaign was part of the Tel Aviv Pride events and aimed to help more women become leaders in the community. She also helped lead a march for women's rights in 2018.
Naggar organized special events for older LGBT people, like the "Golden LGBT" event and an LGBT Passover Seder (a traditional Jewish meal). She did this for The Aguda – Israel's LGBT Task Force and the Tel Aviv Municipal LGBT Community Center. Naggar also writes articles for the "mako" news site about LGBT relationships and different ways of thinking.
