Revels are yummy chocolate-covered treats with different centers inside. They are made by a company called Mars, Inc. These popular sweets first came out in the United Kingdom in 1967.
When Revels first appeared, they had a few different flavors. You could find orange creme, coconut, toffee, or peanut centers. There were also Galaxy Counters and Maltesers inside. Later, the coconut centers were changed to coffee creme. The peanuts were also replaced with raisins.
What are Galaxy Counters?
Galaxy Counters used to be sold on their own. But after a while, you could only find them as part of the Revels mix. This changed in 2010. Galaxy Counters were then brought back as a separate product under the Galaxy brand.
The 2008 'Eviction' Contest
In July 2008, Revels launched a fun contest. It was like the TV show Big Brother. One flavor from the Revels bag would be "evicted" or removed. A special new flavor would take its place for a short time.
People could vote online at a special website. Voting ended on September 9, 2008. The coffee flavor received the most votes to be "evicted." It got almost half of all the votes! Raisin was next, with about 25% of the votes. The other flavors shared the rest. The coffee flavor was briefly replaced with strawberry. But don't worry, coffee Revels came back in early 2009!
Important Recall in 2023
On December 1, 2023, there was an important safety announcement about Revels. Some batches of the sweets were recalled. This happened because small pieces of rubber were found in them.
The Food Standards Agency told people not to eat these sweets if they had bought them. Mars, the company that makes Revels, offered free refunds. If you had bought the affected sweets, you could get your money back. No more details are known about this situation right now.
