Rexford is a small town located in Lincoln County, Montana, in the United States. In 2020, the town had a population of 78 people.
The town of Rexford started when the Great Northern Railway built a train line in 1901. Later, in 1966, Rexford officially became a town. This was important because it allowed the town to work with the U.S. Army Corps of Engineers during the building of the Libby Dam.

Geography and Location
Rexford is a small town with a total land area of about 0.10 square miles (0.22 square kilometers).
A Town That Moved
Did you know Rexford used to be in a different spot? The original town was located right on the Kootenai River. However, in the 1970s, a large dam was built on the river. This dam created Lake Koocanusa, and the old townsite of Rexford was flooded. Because of this, the entire town had to be moved!
Today, Rexford is located about 10 miles west of Eureka, along Montana Highway 37. It now sits right on the shore of the beautiful Lake Koocanusa.
