Reymert is a ghost town located in Pinal County, Arizona, in the United States. A ghost town is a place where people used to live and work, but now it's mostly empty or has only a few buildings left. Reymert is one of many such towns in Arizona.

The History of Reymert

Reymert started as a small community around a post office. This post office opened its doors on June 6, 1890. The town was named after its founder, a man named James DeNoon Reymart.

Who Was James Reymart?

James DeNoon Reymart was an important person in the area. He not only founded Reymert but also started another nearby town called DeNoon. DeNoon was a place for processing metals like milling and smelting.

Mr. Reymart was also involved in news. He was the editor of a newspaper called the Pinal Drill. This newspaper was published in a town close by, known as Pinal City.

The Reymert Mine

Most people who lived in Reymert worked at the Reymert Mine. This mine was very important to the town's existence. It was located about five miles southwest of Superior.

What Did They Mine?

The Reymert Mine first started by digging for silver. Later on, it became a mine that looked for both silver and manganese. Manganese is a metal used in many different industries.

The End of the Town

Work at the Reymert Mine stopped in the 1950s. When the mine closed, most people left Reymert to find work elsewhere. This is how Reymert became a ghost town.

In the late 1970s, a company from Phoenix used bulldozers to clear away what was left of the town. Today, you can still see a few things from the past. There are remains of two large kilns, which were used for processing materials. You can also find some old foundations made of stacked stones. These are like clues to what the town once was.
