Rhea Mills is a small farming community in Collin County, Texas, United States. It's called an unincorporated area, which means it doesn't have its own local government like a city does. In 2000, only 47 people lived there. Rhea Mills is part of the larger Dallas-Fort Worth Metroplex area.

A Look Back: History of Rhea Mills

The story of Rhea Mills began in 1857 when people first settled in this area. Two brothers, W.A. and J.C. Rhea, built a special mill here. This mill could grind both flour and corn. Because of their mill, the place was first called "Rhea's Mills." Later, in early 1982, the name was shortened to just Rhea Mills.

A post office opened in Rhea Mills in 1876, helping people send and receive mail. However, it closed in 1907, and mail started coming from nearby McKinney. For most of its history, Rhea Mills has been a place where local farmers could trade their goods and get supplies. The community has always been quite small. Since 1990, it has never had more than 100 residents. From 1942 until 1990, its population was even smaller, with fewer than 50 people. By 2000, the population was 47.

On April 22, 1968, a weak tornado, known as an F1 tornado, passed through Rhea Mills.
