History of Rhodes
Rhodes was first planned out in 1856. This means people decided where streets and buildings would go. It officially became a city in 1883.
Before it was called Rhodes, the area had postal service starting in 1860. Back then, it was known as Edenville. The name Rhodes was made official on August 3, 1883. It was named after the family who gave the land for the train station. This station belonged to the Chicago, Milwaukee & St. Paul Railroad.
Even today, part of Rhodes is still called "Edenville Township." The cemetery just outside of town is also named Edenville Cemetery. This shows how the old name is still remembered.
