Richard Wayne Fields, born on November 30, 1960, is an American media personality. He's also an author, a speaker who inspires people, and a former game show announcer and weather forecaster. Many know him best as the announcer for the TV show The Price Is Right. He worked on the show with hosts Bob Barker and Drew Carey from 2004 to 2010.

Early Life and Education
Richard Fields was born in Bay Village, Ohio. He grew up in Avon, Ohio, and later moved to Clearwater, Florida, in 1976. He went to the University of Florida in Gainesville. In 1983, he earned a degree in broadcasting.
While in college, Richard faced a big challenge. He was diagnosed with two types of cancer, but he bravely fought them and got better. Later, in the early 2000s, he went back to college. He studied meteorology at Mississippi State University. This helped him become a successful TV weatherman in Los Angeles.
Richard Fields' Career Journey
Starting in Radio and Game Shows
Richard Fields started his career in radio in 1979. He worked as a radio personality for 16 different stations across the country. This included big cities like Los Angeles, California, and Tampa, Florida. For over ten years, he was a disc jockey for music radio shows. He worked on CBS's 93.1 FM station in Los Angeles during the 1980s and 1990s.
From 1995 to 1999, he was the announcer for the Florida Lottery game show called Flamingo Fortune.
Becoming a TV Weatherman
In 2002, Richard was offered a job as a morning weather forecaster. He worked at KPSP-LP in Palm Springs, California. He later became the Chief Meteorologist for the station. He gave weather forecasts for the 5:00 p.m., 6:00 p.m., and 11:00 p.m. news until May 2004.
Announcer for The Price Is Right
Richard Fields had a dream of becoming an announcer for The Price Is Right. In 1978, he even asked the show's announcer, Johnny Olson, how to get his job. Olson brought Richard onto the stage and let him practice calling a contestant to "Come on down!"
On March 30, 2004, Richard's dream came true. Producer Roger Dobkowitz chose him to be the next announcer for The Price Is Right. This happened after the show's longtime announcer, Rod Roddy, passed away. Bob Barker announced Richard's hiring on April 6, 2004. Richard signed a contract to be the show's announcer until 2010.
Other TV Appearances
Richard Fields was also the announcer for the summer game show tournament Gameshow Marathon in 2006. This show aired on CBS from May 31 to June 29. During this series, Richard set a record. He announced the most televised game show titles in a single season. The American version of the show was hosted by actress Ricki Lake.
In 2007, Richard appeared with Bob Barker on a fictional episode of The Price Is Right. This was part of an episode of the TV show How I Met Your Mother.
In 2009, Richard had his own comedy web series on YouTube. It was called Rich Fields Gone Wild. In this series, he talked about his daily life. Famous guest stars like Lou Ferrigno (who played The Incredible Hulk) and Adam West (who played Batman) appeared in some episodes.
After The Price Is Right
On July 16, 2010, Richard Fields announced he would not be returning to The Price Is Right. From 2010 to 2016, he worked as a staff meteorologist for CBS. He delivered weather forecasts for their Los Angeles stations.
Richard also served as the announcer for 55 episodes of Wheel of Fortune in 2010. This was after the death of announcer Charlie O'Donnell. He also did voice-over work for many weeks of episodes and specials.
From 2017 to 2020, Richard worked as a radio host for Q105 (WRBQ-FM). He was on the air for almost three years. However, he and many other staff members were let go due to job cuts during the COVID-19 pandemic.
In November 2021, Richard Fields was hired as a meteorologist at WTSP (10 Tampa Bay). This is a CBS station in Tampa, Florida. He worked there until 2023. On February 16, 2023, Richard announced a new path. He decided to leave traditional broadcasting to become a motivational speaker. He now inspires people with his words.
