In 1547, Sir Richard was honored with a knighthood. This special title was given to him at Berwick-upon-Tweed by John Dudley, 1st Earl of Warwick. At the time, Dudley was a top military leader for the King in Scotland.
Roles as High Sheriff

Sir Richard was a leading citizen in the town of Beaumaris. He worked hard to help the town succeed and grow. In 1562, he helped Beaumaris get a special document called a charter from Elizabeth I, the Queen of England. This charter allowed Beaumaris to become an official town with its own local government.
