Richard Davies (born Dennis Wilfred Davies; 25 January 1926 – 8 October 2015) was a well-known Welsh actor. He was famous for playing Mr. Price, the often-frustrated schoolmaster, in the funny TV show Please Sir!. Richard Davies often used a strong Welsh accent in his roles. However, he was also skilled at using other accents to play many different characters.

Richard Davies was born in Dowlais, a town near Merthyr Tydfil in Wales. His father worked for the railway. Richard Davies became a very busy actor, appearing in many popular TV shows and films.
Famous TV Roles
Richard Davies was in several popular British TV series. He played Idris Hopkins in Coronation Street from 1974 to 1975. He also appeared in science-fiction shows like Robert's Robots and Out of the Unknown. A memorable role was Burton in the 1987 Doctor Who story Delta and the Bannermen.
He also made guest appearances in many other well-loved comedies. These included Fawlty Towers, where he played Mr. White, and Yes Minister. You might also have seen him in One Foot in the Grave and 2point4 Children. From 1974 to 1977, he had a main role as Clive in the comedy series Oh No It's Selwyn Froggitt.
Richard Davies also had a regular part as Jim Sloan in the police drama Z-Cars between 1962 and 1965. He later returned to the show playing different characters. He also appeared in other police dramas like Dixon of Dock Green and The Sweeney.

Richard Davies also acted in several films. One of his earliest uncredited roles was in the 1951 comedy The Lavender Hill Mob. He was also in the famous 1964 film Zulu. Later, he appeared in the film version of Please Sir! in 1971. In 1972, he was in Under Milk Wood.
Richard Davies passed away on 8 October 2015, at the age of 89. He had been battling Alzheimer's disease.
