Richview as a Business and Railroad Town

Over time, Richview grew into a busy center for businesses. It once had five stores, two blacksmith shops, and a wagon shop. There were also three doctors living in the town. At one point, about 600 people lived there.

Richview also became important because of the railroad. It was one of only four towns located along the Illinois Central Railway. This railway helped the town grow and connect with other places.

Old and New Richview

Eventually, two parts of the town formed: Old Richview and New Richview. Together, they had a population of about 1,000 people. These two parts later joined together to become one village. Today, Richview is a smaller village with around 250 residents.
