Richview is a small village located in Washington County, Illinois, in the United States. In 2020, about 238 people lived there. It is a quiet place with a history tied to the early days of Illinois and the railroad.

History of Richview
Richview was first started in 1839. It was originally called "Richmond." The village was planned out, which means its streets and lots were mapped.
How Richview Got Its Name
The name changed to Richview in 1852. This new name was chosen because the old town was on a high spot. From there, people could see a great view of the land around them.
Richview as a Business and Railroad Town
Over time, Richview grew into a busy center for businesses. It once had five stores, two blacksmith shops, and a wagon shop. There were also three doctors living in the town. At one point, about 600 people lived there.
Richview also became important because of the railroad. It was one of only four towns located along the Illinois Central Railway. This railway helped the town grow and connect with other places.
Old and New Richview
Eventually, two parts of the town formed: Old Richview and New Richview. Together, they had a population of about 1,000 people. These two parts later joined together to become one village. Today, Richview is a smaller village with around 250 residents.
Richview Car and Bike Show
The village is also known for the Richview Car and Bike Show. This fun event happens every July and brings people together.
