History of Ridge
The area we now call Ridge had a different name long ago. It was first known as "Foreman Flats." This older name covered a larger area. It stretched from Ridge Road in the north to Doc Duhon Road in the south. It also went from Lagneaux Road in the east to South Fieldspan Road in the west.
Early Settlers
The first person to settle in this area was Edward G. F. Broussard. He arrived in 1858. Mr. Broussard bought about 160 acres of land. Other early families who moved to Ridge came from different states. Many of them came from Georgia, South Carolina, and North Carolina. They helped build the community into what it is today.
