Counting the People: Early Census
In 1899, the United States government took a count of all the people in Puerto Rico. This count is called a census. The census found that 1,244 people lived in the Rincón barrio at that time. This helps us understand how the population has grown over the years.

The Story of the Apparition
In 1953, something very interesting happened in Rincón. Three school children said they saw an apparition, which is like a vision, of the Virgin Mary. Many people were curious about this event. Even though the Catholic Church investigated and did not find proof, thousands of people still visited the spot 37 years later to honor Our Lady of the Rosary.
