Risa Sato (佐藤 理沙, Satō Risa) is a talented volleyball player. She is both Filipina and Japanese. Risa lives in the Philippines and plays volleyball there. She used to play for the NU Lady Bulldogs in college. Now, she plays for the Chery Tiggo Crossovers in the Premier Volleyball League.

Risa Sato's Early Life
Risa Sato was born on October 4, 1994, in Osaka, Japan. She grew up there with her family. Her mother is Filipino, and her father is Japanese. Risa started playing volleyball when she was in school in Japan. When she was 19, she moved to the Philippines with her mother. She wanted to follow her dream of playing volleyball there.
Risa Sato's Volleyball Career
Risa came to the Philippines in 2013 to play college volleyball. Coach Roger Gorayeb invited her to play for Ateneo de Manila University. She played for Ateneo as a guest player in the Shakey's V-League. However, she could not join Ateneo officially. This was because she did not pass the entrance exams, which were in English.
In 2015, Risa tried out for National University. Coach Gorayeb was also coaching there. By July 2017, she was a student at National University. She was studying sports and wellness management. At the same time, she also played for the BaliPure Purest Water Defenders. This team is part of the Premier Volleyball League. Risa and the NU Lady Bulldogs won the Premier Volleyball League 1st Season Collegiate Conference championship.
Risa also played for the Creamline Cool Smashers from 2018 to 2024. In 2025, she joined a new team, the Chery Tiggo Crossovers.
Playing for the National Team
Risa Sato also played for the Philippine national team. Her first international game was in 2015. She played for the Philippine youth team. This was at the 2015 Asian Women's U23 Volleyball Championship in Pasig. She also joined the senior team. They played in the 2015 VTV International Women's Volleyball Cup in Vietnam.
