History of Risingsun
The area where Risingsun is located today was first settled by people in the 1830s. The village itself was officially planned out and mapped in 1876. This process is called "platting."
A post office, first named "Rising Sun," opened in 1873. The spelling of the name was changed to "Risingsun" in 1894. The village became an official town (incorporated) in 1879.
