The Rivière du Barrage is a small river in Quebec, Canada. Its name means "river of the Dam" in English. This river is a tributary, which means it flows into a larger river. It joins the Samson River on its east side. The Samson River then flows into the Chaudière River, and finally, the Chaudière River empties into the mighty St. Lawrence River.

Where Does the River Flow?
The Rivière du Barrage is located in the Estrie region of Quebec. It's part of the Le Granit Regional County Municipality. This river is quite short, measuring about 8.2 kilometres (5.1 mi) (about 5 miles) in length.
Starting Point
The river begins from small mountain streams. These streams are found in the area of Saint-Robert-Bellarmin. At its source, the river is quite high up, at an elevation of about 566 metres (1,857 ft) (about 1,857 feet) above sea level.
The River's Journey
As the Rivière du Barrage flows, it eventually reaches its end point, called its mouth. It flows into the Samson River near the town of Saint-Ludger. At this point, the elevation is lower, around 392 metres (1,286 ft) (about 1,286 feet).
Part of a Bigger System
The Rivière du Barrage is a small but important part of a much larger river system. It connects to the Samson River, which then connects to the Chaudière River. The name "Rivière du Barrage" was officially given to this river on December 5, 1968. This was done by the Commission de toponymie du Québec. This commission is a group in Quebec that is in charge of naming places. The word "toponymy" is the study of place names and how they came to be. So, the name simply means "river of the Dam."
