Rivka Oxman (born April 6, 1948) is an Israeli architect, a person who designs buildings. She is also a researcher and a professor at the Technion Institute in Haifa. Life and career
Rivka Oxman finished high school at the Hebrew Reali School in Haifa in 1966. She earned her college degrees from the Technion – Israel Institute of Technology. Later, she became a professor there and even served as the Vice Dean for Teaching in the Faculty of Architecture and Town Planning.
She has also been a visiting professor at famous universities like Stanford University and Delft University of Technology. She did research at MIT and the University of California, Berkeley. She also worked at the University of Sydney and Kaiserslautern University.
Rivka Oxman is married to Robert Oxman, who is also an architect. They have two daughters, Neri and Keren.
In 2006, she was chosen as a Fellow of the Design Research Society (DRS). This honor recognized her important work in design research, which is about studying how people design things. She helps edit a journal called Design Studies and is on the team for other journals about design and digital design.
In 2010, she and her husband, Robert, worked together to edit a special issue of the journal Architectural Design. This issue was about "New Structuralism." This idea looks at how new design, engineering, and building technology come together. It helps create new ways of using materials and making spaces. In 2014, they edited a book called Theories of the Digital in Architecture. This book gave an overview of how digital tools are used in architecture. Rivka Oxman also edited special issues of Design Studies about Digital Design (2006) and Parametric Design Thinking (2017).
In November 2017, Rivka Oxman received an Honorary Doctorate from the Universitat Internacional de Catalunya (UIC Barcelona). This special award was given for her research on digital design and how digital tools help create new ideas in design and architecture.
