Robert of Clermont (born 1256 – died 7 February 1317) was a French royal prince. He was given the title of Count of Clermont in 1268. Robert was the sixth and youngest son of King Louis IX, also known as Saint Louis, and Margaret of Provence.
Even though he didn't play a big role in his lifetime, Robert was very important for the royal family. He founded the House of Bourbon. This family line later gained the right to the French throne from his father's side. This happened in 1589, many generations after Robert, when other family lines ended.
