A Difficult Time in 1411

In 1411, Robert Burton faced a big challenge. He, along with other people at the college, had beliefs that were different from the main church teachings of that time. Becoming the College Master

Even after this difficult period, Robert Burton continued his work. In 1420, he became the Master of University College. He led the college for about three or four years, until 1423 or 1424.

Helping the College Thrive

During his time as Master, Robert Burton helped the college a lot. University College was having money problems. In 1420, another Archbishop of Canterbury, Henry Chichele, gave Robert Burton special permission to help the college get through its financial difficulties. This shows how trusted and important Robert Burton was.
