Early Life and Education
Robert Neild was born in a place called Hertfordshire, England, in 1924. He went to a school called Charterhouse School. Later, he studied at Trinity College, Cambridge, which is a very famous university. He was so good at his studies that he became a "Fellow" of Trinity College in 1971. This means he was a special member of the college, often a teacher or researcher.
Working for Governments and the UN
Robert Neild had many important jobs. He worked for the United Nations (UN) in Europe, helping with economic plans. He also held positions in the UK government. For example, he worked in the Cabinet Office, which helps the Prime Minister make decisions. He was also the first "Economic Advisor" at HM Treasury in the 1960s. The Treasury is the part of the government that manages the country's money.
He even worked at the MIT Center for International Studies, which is a research center in the United States. Before all this, he was a leader at the National Institute for Economic and Social Research, which studies how the economy works.
Helping Peace Efforts
In 1966, Robert Neild became the first director of a very important organization called the Stockholm International Peace Research Institute (SIPRI).
