His Early Life and Work

In the 1820s, Scanlan lived in Dublin, Ireland. He started showing his paintings at the Royal Hibernian Academy. This was an important place for artists in Ireland. He showed his work there for many years.

Later, he became the Master of the Cork School of Design. This means he was in charge of teaching art there.

Scanlan's Painting Style
