Robert Scholl (born April 13, 1891 – died October 25, 1973) was an important German politician. He was the father of Hans and Sophie Scholl, who became famous for their brave actions. Robert Scholl was known for speaking out against the Nazi Party and its government. He served as a mayor in several towns, including Ingersheim, Forchtenberg, and Ulm. He also helped start a political party called the All-German People's Party.

Robert Scholl's Early Life and Family

Robert Scholl was born in Mainhardt, a town in Germany, on April 13, 1891. During World War I, a major global conflict, he met Magdalena Müller. She later became his wife. They met while both were working in a hospital.

After they married, the couple moved to Ingersheim an der Jagst. In 1920, they moved again to Forchtenberg. Robert and Magdalena had six children: Inge, Hans, Elisabeth, Sophie, Werner, and Thilde.

The family moved to Ludwigsburg in 1930. Two years later, in 1932, they settled in Ulm. In Ulm, Robert Scholl started his own business. He helped people with their taxes and finances.

Robert Scholl's Public Service and Views

Robert Scholl began his public service as a mayor. He became the mayor of Ingersheim an der Jagst in 1917. This town is now part of Crailsheim. In 1920, he became the mayor of Forchtenberg, serving until 1930.

Speaking Out Against Injustice

Robert Scholl strongly disagreed with the Nazi Party when they gained power. Many young people, including his own children, first joined youth groups supported by the ruling party. Robert tried to share his concerns with them.

His children, Hans and Sophie, soon understood the true nature of these groups. They later helped create the White Rose. This was a brave group that worked to peacefully oppose the Nazi government.

In 1942, Robert Scholl faced serious trouble for his strong opinions. He was held for a period because he spoke out against the country's leader. The family's situation became very difficult.

After his children, Hans and Sophie, faced severe consequences for their work with the White Rose, Robert Scholl himself faced further difficulties. He was held for a longer period for listening to radio broadcasts from other countries.

Post-War Leadership

After World War II ended, Robert Scholl continued to serve his community. He was the mayor of Ulm from June 1945 until 1948. He also helped establish a new government in the region of Württemberg-Baden.

In 1952, he helped start a new political party. It was called the All-German People's Party. He worked with Gustav Heinemann and other politicians who shared his vision for Germany.
