James Robert Scott Sr. (born June 22, 1930 – died October 11, 2020) was an American baseball player. He was a pitcher in the Negro leagues from 1946 to 1950. Scott was a talented athlete who played during an important time in baseball history.

Early Life and Baseball Start

James Robert Scott Sr. was born in Macon, Georgia. He grew up loving baseball. When he was just 16 years old, in 1946, he joined a professional team. This team was called the New York Black Yankees.

Playing for the Black Yankees

Scott played as a pitcher for the New York Black Yankees. He was part of the team for four seasons. His time with the team lasted until 1950. The Negro leagues were professional baseball leagues. They were for African American players. This was before baseball was fully integrated.
