Sir Robert de Quincy was an important noble (a person of high rank) in the 1100s. He was born around 1140 and passed away about 1197. He was known as the 1st Baron of Prestoungrange. He also held a big job in Scotland called the Justiciar of Lothian. This meant he was a chief judge or administrator for that area.

Life of Robert de Quincy
Early Life and Family Connections
Robert de Quincy was a younger son. His parents were Saer de Quincy and Maud de Senlis. His mother's family had important connections. Her mother, Maud of Huntingdon, was the stepdaughter of King David I of Scotland. This linked Robert's family to Scottish royalty.
Important Roles and Land
Robert received Forfar Castle in Scotland. He also got a "toft" in Haddington. A toft was a piece of land with a house on it. From 1171 to 1178, Robert served as a joint Justiciar of Lothian. This was a powerful position, like being a top legal official.
Adventures and Crusades
In 1190, Robert joined King Richard I of England on the Third Crusade. This was a big journey to the Holy Land. In 1191, Robert led a group to help the city of Antioch. He also helped gather prisoners from Tyre. After returning from the crusade, Robert fought in King Richard I's battles in Normandy in 1194 and 1196. In 1192, he inherited land in England from his nephew, Saer.
Family and Marriages
First Marriage and Children
Robert de Quincy first married a woman named Orabilis. She was the daughter of Nes fitz William, who was the Lord of Leuchars.
Robert and Orabilis had two children:
- Saer de Quincy (died 1219). He later married Margaret de Beaumont.
- An unknown daughter who married someone from the de St Andrew family.
Robert and Orabilis later divorced.
Second Marriage
Robert then married a second time to a woman named Eve. It is thought that Eve might have been the daughter of Uhtred, who was the lord of Galloway.
