Robert of Bar (born 1390 – died October 25, 1415) was an important noble in France during the 15th century. He held several titles, including Lord of Marle from 1397 to 1413. Later, he became the Count of Marle from 1413 until his death in 1415. He was also the Count of Soissons from 1412 to 1415.

Early Life and Family Connections
Robert was the only child of Henry of Bar and Marie I de Coucy, Countess of Soissons. His family had strong connections to royalty. His great-grandfather was Edward III, who was a King of England. This made Robert part of a very powerful and influential family line.
Claiming the Duchy of Bar
Robert's father, Henry, was the oldest son of Robert I of Bar. Because of this, Robert believed he should inherit the Duchy of Bar. A duchy was a large territory ruled by a duke. Robert gave up his claim to this important land. He did so only after receiving a large amount of money. Also, his own territory of Marle was made into a county. A county was a smaller but still important area ruled by a count. In 1412, he also gained the title of Count of Soissons.

Marriage and Children
In 1409, Robert married Jeanne de Béthune, Viscountess of Meaux. She was the daughter of Robert VIII de Béthune. Jeanne was also known as the Viscountess of Meaux. This meant she held a noble title in her own right. Robert and Jeanne had one child, a daughter named Jeanne de Bar, Countess of Marle and Soissons.
Jeanne de Bar's Legacy
Jeanne de Bar was born in 1415. She inherited her mother's title, becoming the Viscountess of Meaux. She also became the Countess of Marle and Soissons. This meant she held these titles because of her parents. Jeanne later married Louis de Luxembourg, Count of Saint-Pol. They had seven children together.
Death at the Battle of Agincourt
Robert of Bar's life ended tragically in 1415. He was one of many French nobles who died during the Battle of Agincourt. This was a major battle in the Hundred Years' War. The war was a long conflict between England and France. Many French soldiers and leaders lost their lives in this battle.
