Roberto Alfredo Perfumo (born October 3, 1942 – died March 10, 2016) was a famous Argentine football player and sports commentator. People called him El Mariscal, which means "The Marshal," because he was a strong leader on the field. Many think he was one of the best defenders Argentina ever had. He played for big clubs like Racing Club, River Plate, and Brazilian team Cruzeiro. He also played for the Argentina national team in the 1966 and 1974 World Cups.

Roberto Perfumo's Football Journey

Roberto Perfumo was born in Sarandí, Argentina. He started playing football in his neighborhood team, called "Pulqui." In 1960, he joined the youth division of River Plate.
Perfumo later became a player for Racing Club. He played his first friendly match for them in January 1964 in Chile. He started as a midfielder, but then began playing as a right back for Racing's reserve team.
Rising to Fame with Racing Club
Perfumo made his official debut in the Primera División (Argentina's top league) thanks to coach Néstor Rossi. While playing for Racing Club, he became known as one of Argentina's best defenders.
He helped Racing Club win many important titles:
