Early Life and Cooking Passion
Roberto Treviño grew up in Sunnyvale, California. He loved cooking from a young age. He started working in kitchens while still in high school. This was in the San Francisco Bay Area.
Chef Treviño's Culinary Journey
Starting in Puerto Rico
In the early 1990s, Chef Treviño moved to Puerto Rico. He worked at the opening of the El Conquistador Resort. This big resort is in Fajardo, Puerto Rico.
In 1996, he decided to open his own place. It was called The Parrot Club. This restaurant was in Old San Juan. It served "Nuevo Latino" food, which is a modern take on Latin dishes.
Opening More Restaurants
After The Parrot Club became a success, Chef Treviño opened two more restaurants. Both were also in Old San Juan.
- Dragonfly opened in 2000. It focused on Latin-Asian food.
- Aguaviva opened in 2002. This restaurant specialized in delicious seafood.
New Restaurants in Condado
In 2007, Chef Treviño started new projects. He opened a large Latin-Asian restaurant called Budatai. This one was in the Condado area. He was both the chef and the owner.
Since then, he has opened more places in Condado:
- Bar Gitano offers Spanish tapas (small dishes) and paellas.
- El Barril is a local spot for drinks and fun.
- Casa Lola is a very large restaurant. It serves "criollo" food, which means local Puerto Rican dishes.
He also worked with Howard Greenstone to open Rosa Mexicano. This restaurant opened in 2013.

Chef Treviño often cooks at special food events. He has cooked at the James Beard Foundation house in New York. He also cooks at big food festivals. These include the Aspen Food & Wine Classic and the St Croix Food and Wine Festival. He has even been a guest chef on Celebrity Cruise Lines ships.
Television Appearances
Chef Treviño has been on many TV shows. He appeared on Iron Chef: America where he competed against Chef Mario Batali. He was also a contestant on The Next Iron Chef.

CookShop Production Company
In 2011, Chef Treviño started his own company called CookShop. This company makes TV shows and organizes live events. CookShop has produced his show 4 Minutos con Chef Treviño. They also put on the Food & Fashion Festival. Over 3,000 people attended this festival when it first started.
