About Robin S.
Robin S. first released "Show Me Love" in 1990. It was produced by Fred McFarlane. Later, in 1993, a Swedish DJ named StoneBridge remixed the song. This new version was released by Big Beat Records and became a huge hit.
"Show Me Love" Success
The remixed "Show Me Love" topped the Hot Dance Music/Club Play chart and the Hot Dance Singles Sales chart. It also reached number five on the Billboard Hot 100 chart. This success led to Robin S. performing at the 1994 "American Music Awards". Her next songs, "Luv 4 Luv" and "What I Do Best", were also very popular. By 2004, her first album, also called Show Me Love, had sold over 300,000 copies in the U.S.
Second Album and New Sounds
After writing more songs, Robin S. worked with producers Eric "E-Smoove" Miller and Todd Terry on her second album. This album, From Now On, came out in 1997. It showed a wider range of music styles, including Gospel and R&B songs, along with her usual dance music.
The first song from this album, "It Must Be Love", was a big hit. It stayed at number one on the Hot Dance Club Play chart for two weeks. Another song, "Midnight", also reached number one on the Hot Dance Club Play chart. Robin S. performed "Midnight" on the Ricki Lake show. The album From Now On sold about 100,000 copies in the U.S. The song "Midnight" was originally written by British singer Alison Moyet. In 1996, Robin S. also sang "Givin You All That I Got" for the movie Space Jam soundtrack.
Later Career and Tours
In 2004, Robin S. went on a successful tour in Europe, where her music has always been very popular. She often performs at concerts that celebrate 1990s club and dance-pop music.
In 2008, she recorded a new song with a European artist named Honest. In October 2008, the radio version of her 1993 hit "Show Me Love" became number one in the Dutch Top 40 chart. This made it her most successful song in the Netherlands. In 2009, she released another new song called "At My Best" with Corey Gibbons. In 2016, Robin S. worked with DJ Escape on a song called "Shout It Loud", which also reached number one on the U.S. dance chart.
