Shou Wan-por (Chinese: 仇雲波), known as Robin Shou, is an actor, martial artist, and stuntman from Hong Kong and America. He was born on July 17, 1960. Robin Shou is famous for playing Liu Kang in the Mortal Kombat movies from 1995 and 1997. He also played Gobei in Beverly Hills Ninja (1997) and 14K in the Death Race films (2008-2013).

Before becoming a Hollywood actor in 1994, Robin Shou was a big action star in Hong Kong. He appeared in about 40 movies there. He also won many championships as a martial artist.

About Robin Shou

Early Life and Martial Arts

Robin Shou became interested in martial arts when he was a university student. He started practicing wushu after watching Jet Li's movie Shaolin Temple. Soon after, he began working as a stuntman in Hong Kong films.

As a martial artist, Robin Shou was very successful. He won the International Forms Champion title in both 1982 and 1983. He also earned several gold and silver medals in important competitions in China. In California, he was a Grand Champion in traditional martial arts forms.

Becoming a Movie Star

Robin Shou's first acting role in America was in the TV movie Forbidden Nights in 1990. He starred alongside Melissa Gilbert. After this, he went back to Hong Kong and continued making movies there. Some of these films include Tiger Cage 2 and Fatal Termination.

In 1994, Robin Shou returned to Los Angeles. He got his first main role in an American movie as Liu Kang in Mortal Kombat (1995). This movie was based on the very popular video game of the same name. He played Liu Kang again in the sequel, Mortal Kombat Annihilation, in 1997. In the same year, he appeared with Chris Farley in the action comedy Beverly Hills Ninja.

Robin Shou also had a small role in another movie based on a fighting video game, DOA: Dead or Alive. This film was produced by the same director and producer as Mortal Kombat. He played the character 14K in the Death Race movie series. He also appeared as Gen in the 2009 movie Street Fighter: The Legend of Chun-Li. Robin Shou even helped train actress Milla Jovovich for her role in the Resident Evil movies.

Robin Shou speaks both English and his native Chinese very well.
