Rock City is a small village located in Stephenson County, in the state of Illinois, United States. In 2020, about 293 people lived there. It's a quiet place with a rich history.

History of Rock City
This village was founded in 1859. A man named Samuel Jay Davis is thought to have built the very first general store here. The nearby village of Davis is named after him.
For a long time, the main way people made a living in Rock City was through farming. They mostly grew crops like wheat and corn. Unlike many other small towns, Rock City was not built near a big river or a railroad. This is one reason why its population has stayed about the same for over 150 years.
