Rockmont is a small, quiet place in Wisconsin, United States. It's what we call an unincorporated community. This means it's a group of homes and businesses that aren't officially a city or a town with its own local government. Instead, it's part of a larger area called the town of Amnicon, which is in Douglas County.
Rockmont's Past
How Rockmont Got Its Name
Rockmont got its name from a special place nearby. There was a rocky mound close to the community. People thought this natural landmark was a good way to describe the area.
The Old Post Office
Long ago, Rockmont had its very own post office. It opened in 1897. This was a busy place where people would send and receive letters and packages. The post office helped connect the community to the rest of the world. However, it closed down in 1911.
