The Rockwell B-1 Lancer is a very fast and powerful airplane. It is used by the U.S. Air Force. This plane is a type of bomber. This means it carries and drops bombs.
The B-1 Lancer has four turbojet engines. It also has special wings that can change their shape. This helps it fly faster or slower. It can carry different kinds of bombs. These include very powerful ones. Only the USA uses the B-1 Lancer.
Different Versions of the B-1
The B-1 Lancer has two main versions.
- Rockwell B-1A: Only four of these planes were made. They were used for testing new ideas. They helped engineers learn how to build the best bomber. These planes were never used in real missions.
- Rockwell B-1B: One hundred of these planes were built. These are the ones used as actual bombers. They fly missions for the U.S. Air Force.
