Rod Brown, born on October 6, 1963, is a former American football player. He played as a defensive back, a position that helps stop the other team from scoring. Rod played for the Ottawa Rough Riders in the Canadian Football League (CFL) for two seasons.
He also played college football for the Oklahoma State Cowboys. In 1984, he was recognized as one of the best college players in the country. Rod was also part of the Denver Broncos and Dallas Texans teams.

Becoming an All-American
In 1984, Rod was named a consensus All-American. This means he was chosen by many different groups as one of the best college football players in the entire country. That year, he made fifty tackles, caught six interceptions, and blocked eight passes. He also had one sack and recovered one fumble.
He also earned First-team All-Big Eight honors in 1984. This meant he was one of the top players in the Big Eight Conference. In 1999, Rod was even named to the Oklahoma State Football All-Century Team. This team honored the best players from the school's history.

After college, Rod Brown continued his football career as a professional player. He played in both the National Football League (NFL) and the Canadian Football League (CFL).
Playing in the NFL and CFL
Rod spent the 1985 season with the Denver Broncos in the National Football League. Later, in April 1987, he joined the Ottawa Rough Riders of the Canadian Football League. He played in 32 games for the Rough Riders during the 1987 and 1988 seasons.
Arena Football League Experience
In 1993, Rod played for the Dallas Texans in the Arena Football League (AFL). During the 1993 season, he was very good at catching interceptions. He was tied for third place in the entire AFL with seven interceptions that year.
