Roger Ruskin Spear's Musical Journey
Joining the Bonzo Dog Doo-Dah Band
In late 1964, Roger joined the Bonzo Dog Doo-Dah Band. Before this, he had his own jazz band called New Jungle Orchestra. Roger helped write some of the band's songs, including "Shirt" and "Tubas in the Moonlight." He was also famous for creating cool robots and playing the theremin on songs like "Noises for the Leg."
After the Bonzo Dog Doo-Dah Band
After the Bonzos split up, Roger continued making music. He was part of a band called biGGrunt for a short time. He also had his own show called "Roger Ruskin Spear and his Giant Kinetic Wardrobe." This show featured some of his amazing robot creations.
In 1979, Roger started a band called Tatty Ollity. They released a song called "Punktuation." A few years later, in 1982, Roger was in a TV show called The Cut Price Comedy Show. It was a comedy show with funny sketches.
Roger also formed The Slightly Dangerous Brothers in 1985. They made a song called "Let's Talk Basic." The music video for this song also showed off some of Roger's robots. He played saxophone for Vivian Stanshall's show Rawlinson Dog Ends in 1991. Roger also played on Vivian Stanshall's album Teddy Boys Don't Knit.
