Roger Stuart Bacon (June 29, 1926 – October 4, 2021) was an important Canadian politician. He served as the 21st premier of Nova Scotia from 1990 to 1991. The Premier is like the leader of the province's government.

Roger Bacon's Political Journey
Roger Bacon began his political career in 1970. He was first elected to the Nova Scotia House of Assembly. This is where laws are made for the province. He was a member of the Progressive Conservative party.
Serving in Government
When his party won the election in 1978, Roger Bacon became a Minister. A Minister is in charge of a specific part of the government. He first served as the Minister of Tourism. Later, from 1979 to 1988, he became the Minister of Agriculture. He was part of the cabinet, which is a group of top advisors to the Premier.
Becoming Premier
After that, Roger Bacon became the Deputy Premier. This means he was the second-in-command. He also served as the Minister of Housing. In 1990, the Premier at the time, John Buchanan, moved to the Senate of Canada. Roger Bacon then stepped in as the interim leader of his party. He became the Premier of Nova Scotia for about six months. He served until the party chose a new permanent leader. He did not run for re-election in 1993.
