Rahul Kumar Velpula, known as Roll Rida, is an Indian rapper, songwriter, and actor. He is famous for his work in Telugu films and music.
He became well-known for his YouTube rap song Patang, released for Sankranthi. This song was a huge hit with millions of views. Other popular songs by him include Kirana rap, Breaking news Kattif, and Dilkush. In 2018, he was a contestant on the TV show Bigg Boss 2. He stayed on the show for 15 weeks and finished in 6th place.

About Roll Rida's Early Life
Roll Rida was born in Karimnagar, Telangana, India. He went to Johnson Grammar School in Hyderabad. He later studied at Narayana Junior College. He earned his BTech degree in computer science from CVR College of Engineering in Hyderabad. He was known for his singing skills in school. He even started a band in college with his friend Syed Kamran.
Roll Rida's Career Journey
Roll Rida first worked at Google in Hyderabad. He also worked as a Quality Analyst at Tech Mahindra.
He chose his stage name, Roll Rida, after a friend suggested it. It was inspired by the famous American rapper, Flo Rida. In 2017, he left his job to focus on his music career. His rap song 'Arupu' with Syed Kamran became very popular. He was one of the first artists to create a rap song in the Telugu language from Telangana State.
First Big Hit and Tours
In 2013, he released his first single, Patang, on Sankranthi. It was a big hit on YouTube, getting over 14 million views. His songs like Patang, Kirana song, and Dilkush are very popular with young listeners. He traveled to the USA in 2015 and 2016. He went there to promote his Telugu rap and Hip Hop songs.
