What Was the District of Rolle?
In Switzerland, a district is a type of administrative area, a bit like a county or a borough in other countries. These districts help organize local government and services. The District of Rolle was one of these areas within the Canton of Vaud.
Where Was Rolle Located?
The District of Rolle was located in the western part of Switzerland, right in the Canton of Vaud. It was known for its beautiful views of Lake Geneva and the surrounding vineyards. The town of Rolle, which was the district's main hub, sits right on the shores of Lake Geneva.
Towns and Villages in Rolle District
The District of Rolle was made up of several smaller towns and villages. These were grouped into two "circles" (called cercles in French), which are like sub-districts. Each circle had its own group of communities.
The Gilly Area
The Cercle de Gilly included nine different communities. Here's a quick look at them, along with their population and size back in 2006:

What Happened to the District?
The District of Rolle no longer exists as a separate district. In 2006, there was a big change in how the cantons in Switzerland were organized. Most of the towns and villages that were part of the Rolle District became part of the Nyon District. However, the town of Allaman went to a different district, becoming part of the Morges District. This change helped to make the administrative areas more efficient.
