Romain Ntamack is a French professional rugby union player. He was born on May 1, 1999. He plays as a fly-half for Toulouse, a top club in France. He also plays for the French national team.

Romain has played for Toulouse since he was a child. He helped them win their first Top 14 title in 2019. In 2021, he won both the French championship and the European Rugby Champions Cup with Toulouse. He made his first appearance for the senior French national team in 2019. Romain's family has roots in Cameroon and France. His paternal grandfather moved from Cameroon to Lyon, France. Romain started playing rugby in Toulouse when he was five years old. He joined the youth team of his father's club.

Club Career Highlights

Romain Ntamack made his first professional appearance for Toulouse on September 30, 2017. He played in a home game against Agen. In his second professional season, he helped Toulouse win the Top 14 title in 2019. They won the final against Clermont with a score of 24–18.

Two years later, in 2021, he achieved a big success. He won both the Top 14 and the 2020–21 European Rugby Champions Cup. On May 22, 2021, Toulouse beat La Rochelle 22–17 in the European final. This win made Romain and his father the first father-son duo to win this trophy. He then won his second French championship title a month later.

On May 25, 2022, Toulouse announced that Romain had signed a new contract. He will stay with the club until 2028. His brother Théo also extended his contract with the team. On January 22, 2023, Romain played his 100th game for Toulouse. This was a Heineken Champions Cup match against Munster, which Toulouse won 20–16.

Romain Ntamack first played for France's under-20 team on February 10, 2017. He was only 17 years old at the time. This game was against Scotland in the 2017 Six Nations Under 20s Championship. He was later chosen for the 2017 World Rugby Under 20 Championship. In November 2017, he also played for the French Barbarians. They won 19–15 against the Māori All Blacks.

In 2018, Romain won two major titles with France U20. They won both the 2018 Six Nations Under 20s Championship and the 2018 World Rugby Under 20 Championship. He played for the French Barbarians again later that year.

On February 1, 2019, Ntamack made his first appearance for the senior French national team. He played as an outside centre against Wales in the 2019 Six Nations Championship. He was then selected for the 2019 Rugby World Cup. He became the youngest French player to ever play in a World Cup match. After the tournament, he was named the World Rugby Breakthrough Player of the Year.

Romain became the starting fly-half for France, playing alongside his Toulouse teammate Antoine Dupont. France finished second in the 2020 and 2021 Six Nations Championships. In 2022, he played in all five games as France won the 2022 Six Nations Championship. This was France's first Grand Slam since 2010. In January 2025, he received a red card for a high tackle in a Six Nations game.
