Romanija is a mountain area in Republika Srpska, which is part of Bosnia and Herzegovina. It is also a special kind of flat land called a karst plateau. This means the ground is made of rock that water has slowly shaped over time.
Many towns are found in the Romanija area. These include Pale, Sokolac, and Han Pijesak. The very highest point on Romanija mountain is called Veliki Lupoglav. It stands tall at 1,652 meters (about 5,420 feet) above sea level.
Local Connections
The mountain is important to the people living nearby. For example, there is a football (soccer) club named after it. This club, called FK Romanija, is from the town of Pale.
