Playing Career Highlights
Ron joined Burnley as a young player. He then moved to West Bromwich Albion in 1962. Later, he played for Birmingham City. His last playing club was Brentford. While at Brentford, he even stepped in as a temporary manager. This happened when their manager, Jimmy Sirrel, suddenly left for Notts County.
Coaching and Managing
After he stopped playing, Ron Fenton followed Jimmy Sirrel to Notts County. There, he joined the coaching team.
Becoming a Manager
When Jimmy Sirrel left Notts County to manage Sheffield United, Ron Fenton took over as manager. He managed Notts County for two years. After that, Jimmy Sirrel returned and became the manager again.
Time at Nottingham Forest
After leaving Notts County, Ron Fenton joined Nottingham Forest. He spent ten years as a coach there. Then, he worked for another six years as the assistant manager. He worked under the famous manager Brian Clough during this time.
