Ronald Philip Lurie (born January 23, 1941 – died December 22, 2020) was an American businessman and politician. He served as the mayor of Las Vegas, Nevada, from 1987 to 1991. Lurie was a member of the Democratic Party. As mayor, he was the top leader of the city, working to make important decisions for its people.

Ron Lurie's Life and Career
Ron Lurie had a long and active career in both business and public service. Before becoming mayor, he spent 14 years serving on the Las Vegas City Council. City council members help make local laws and represent the people in their part of the city.
Contributions to Las Vegas
During his time in public service, Lurie helped with several important projects in Las Vegas. He worked with International Game Technology, a company known for making gaming machines. He also played a role in developing two popular museums:
- The Lied Discovery Museum, which is now known as the Discovery Children's Museum. This museum offers fun, hands-on learning experiences for kids.
- The Las Vegas Natural History Museum, where visitors can learn about animals, plants, and the history of the natural world.
Lurie also helped develop the CAT Transit System. This system provides public transportation, like buses, to help people get around the city.
After Being Mayor
After his term as mayor ended in 1991, Ron Lurie continued his career in business. He took on several leadership roles at Arizona Charlie's Decatur, a well-known business in Las Vegas. Ron Lurie was Jewish.
Ron Lurie's Passing
Ron Lurie faced some health challenges, including blood cancer. In late 2020, he became sick with COVID-19 during the COVID-19 pandemic in Nevada. He passed away shortly after, at the age of 79. He was just a little over a month shy of his 80th birthday.
