Ronald Robert Williams (born September 24, 1944 – died April 4, 2004) was a talented American basketball player. He was known as a skilled guard who played in the NBA.

Ron Williams was 6 feet 3 inches tall. He came from Weirton, West Virginia. He became a star player at West Virginia University in the mid-1960s. He was one of the first African American basketball players at his school.

In 1968, the San Francisco Warriors chose him as the ninth pick in the 1968 NBA draft. He was also picked by the Dallas Cowboys for football, but he chose basketball. Ron played for eight seasons in the NBA. He played for the Warriors, the Milwaukee Bucks, and the Los Angeles Lakers. During his career, he scored about 9.3 points and made 3.5 assists per game. He was also very good at free throws, ranking third in the league in the 1970–71 NBA season.

After he stopped playing basketball, Ron Williams became a coach. He worked as an assistant coach at the University of California, Berkeley and Iona College. He passed away in 2004 from a heart attack.

This award showed he was the best player in his college conference.

Playing in the NBA

Ron Williams spent eight years playing professional basketball. He started with the San Francisco Warriors. Later, the team became the Golden State Warriors. He played for them until 1973.

He then joined the Milwaukee Bucks for two seasons. His last team was the Los Angeles Lakers in 1975. Throughout his NBA career, he showed great skill as a guard. He was especially good at making free throws.
