Ronald Lewis Schlicher (born September 16, 1956 – died September 26, 2019) was an American diplomat. He worked for the United States government, helping to build relationships with other countries. He started his career in 1982 as a diplomat and a foreign service officer.
He held important roles in different countries. From 1994 to 1996, he was a senior diplomat in Lebanon. He also served as the top U.S. official in Jerusalem from 2000 to 2002. Later, he became the U.S. Ambassador to Cyprus from 2005 to 2008. In 2008, he took on a role helping to fight terrorism.
Early Life and Education
Ronald Schlicher was born in Sylacauga, Alabama. He grew up in Chattanooga, Tennessee. He went to Red Bank High School.
He then studied at the University of Tennessee. He earned his first degree in 1978. In 1981, he got a law degree from the University of Tennessee College of Law.
Diplomatic Skills
Ronald Schlicher was very good at languages. He could speak both French and Arabic fluently. These skills were very helpful in his diplomatic work around the world.
Later Life
After a long career in diplomacy, Ronald Schlicher retired. He settled down in Brentwood, Tennessee. He passed away there in 2019.
