Rontrez DeMon Johnson was born on December 8, 1976. He is a former Major League Baseball (MLB) player. He played as an outfielder for one season. Rontrez played in eight games for the Kansas City Royals during their 2003 Kansas City Royals season.

Early Life and Draft
Rontrez Johnson grew up in Marshall, Texas. He attended Marshall High School. After high school, he was chosen by the Boston Red Sox. This happened in the sixteenth round of the 1995 Major League Baseball draft.
Journey to the MLB
Johnson signed with the Kansas City Royals as a free agent before the 2002 season. In 2002 and 2003, he moved between a few teams. He first signed with the Texas Rangers in October 2002. Then, the Oakland Athletics picked him in the Rule 5 draft in December 2002. Finally, the Royals claimed him in April 2003.
Major League Debut
Rontrez made his first appearance in Major League Baseball in 2003. It was the second game of the season. He played at Kauffman Stadium, which is the Royals' home field. He entered the game as a defensive replacement. This means he took the place of another player to help with fielding.
He played in seven more games that season. He was often used as a pinch runner. A pinch runner is a player who comes into the game to run the bases for another player. Rontrez got his only Major League hit on April 14. This hit was against Chad Paronto of the Cleveland Indians. The game took place at Jacobs Field.
After the Royals
On April 18, 2003, the Royals sent Johnson back to the Texas Rangers. The Rangers then released him on July 14. He signed with the Atlanta Braves a few days later, on July 18, 2003. He spent the rest of that year playing in their farm system. A farm system is where younger players develop their skills. He was released by the Braves on October 15.
Later Career
After his time in the MLB, Johnson played baseball in other leagues. He spent two seasons playing in the Mexican League and the Mexican Pacific League. These are professional baseball leagues in Mexico. His last season in professional baseball was in 2008. He played for the Schaumburg Flyers. This team was part of the independent Northern League.
