Rosa Aguilar Rivera was born on July 7, 1957. She is a Spanish politician who served as the Minister of Rural and Marine Environment from 2010 to 2012. She is a member of the Spanish Socialist Workers' Party. Before that, she was the mayor of Córdoba from 1999 to 2009. She was even considered for the 2008 World Mayor award.

Early Political Life
Rosa Aguilar started her political journey by joining the Communist Party of Spain (PCE). Later, this party became part of a larger group called United Left (IU) in 1986.
Serving Córdoba City
In 1987, Rosa Aguilar was elected to the Córdoba City Council. She represented the United Left party and served as a city councillor until 1991. This was her first experience in local government.
Regional and National Roles
From 1990 to 1993, she was a deputy in the Parliament of Andalusia. This meant she helped make laws for the region of Andalusia. In 1993, she was elected to the Spanish Congress of Deputies. This is the main law-making body for all of Spain. She represented Cordoba Province and kept her seat after the 1996 General Election. She did not run in the 2000 election.
Becoming Mayor of Córdoba
Rosa Aguilar became the mayor of Córdoba in 1999. She held this important position for ten years, until 2009. As mayor, she was responsible for leading the city and making decisions that affected its residents.
Role as Minister
After her time as mayor, Rosa Aguilar took on a national role. From 2010 to 2012, she served as the Minister of Rural and Marine Environment. In this job, she worked on issues related to farming, the countryside, and the oceans for all of Spain.
Transition to a New Party
In April 2009, Rosa Aguilar accepted an offer to become the Minister for Public Works in the Andalusian regional government. Because she took this new role, her membership with the United Left (IU) party ended. She later joined the Spanish Socialist Workers' Party.
