Rosalie Kingsmill Fry was a talented author and illustrator. She was born in Canada but lived most of her life in Wales. She wrote many books for children, and one of her stories even became a movie!

About Rosalie K. Fry
Early Life and Education
Rosalie Kingsmill Fry was born on April 22, 1911. Her birthplace was Vancouver Island in Canada. When she was young, her family moved to Swansea, a city in Wales.
She went to school in Swansea. Later, she studied art in London. From 1929 to 1934, she attended the Central School of Art and Design. This is where she learned to draw and paint.
Becoming an Author and Illustrator
Rosalie loved to illustrate, which means drawing pictures for books. Because of this interest, she started writing her own stories for children. Her very first book was called Bumblebuzz. It was published in 1938.
During World War II, Rosalie served her country. She joined the Women's Royal Naval Service. After the war, she continued to write and illustrate. She also drew pictures for many other publications.
Her Books and a Movie!
Rosalie K. Fry wrote many popular children's books. One of her most famous books was Child of the Western Isles. This story was so good that it was later made into a movie! The film, released in 1994, was called The Secret of Roan Inish.
