Rose Christiane Ossouka Raponda was born on June 30, 1963. She is a politician from Gabon, a country in Central Africa. She made history by becoming the first woman to hold two very important jobs in Gabon.
From July 2020 to January 2023, she was the Prime Minister of Gabon. This means she was the head of the government. After that, from January to August 2023, she became the first female Vice President of Gabon. Before these big roles, she also served as the mayor of Libreville, which is Gabon's capital city. She was also the country's defense minister.

Early Life and Education
Rose Christiane Raponda was born in a city called Franceville in Gabon. Her family belongs to the Mpongwe people.
She studied at the Gabonese Institute of Economy and Finance. There, she earned a degree in economics and public finance. This education helped her understand how a country's money and government spending work.
Political Career Highlights
Raponda started her career working in finance. She was a Director General of the Economy. She also worked as a Deputy Director General at the Housing Bank of Gabon.
Minister and Mayor
In February 2012, she became the minister in charge of Gabon's budget and public money. She held this job until January 2014.
On January 26, 2014, Raponda was elected as the mayor of Libreville. This is the capital city of Gabon. She was the first woman to be mayor of Libreville since 1956. She was mayor until 2019. She also became the president of a group called United Cities and Local Governments Africa. This group helps cities and local governments across Africa work together.
Defense Minister and Prime Minister
In February 2019, President Ali Bongo Ondimba chose Raponda to be Gabon's Defense Minister. This happened after a failed attempt to take over the government in January 2019. She was in charge of the country's defense until July 2020.
On July 16, 2020, Rose Christiane Raponda was appointed as the Prime Minister of Gabon. She was the first woman ever to hold this powerful position in Gabon. Her appointment came during a challenging time for Gabon. The country was dealing with the COVID-19 pandemic. It was also facing economic problems because the price of oil, a main resource for Gabon, had fallen.
Vice President and Later Events
After serving as Prime Minister, Raponda became the Vice President of Gabon in January 2023. She was the first woman to hold this role too. However, on August 30, 2023, there was another change in the government. Rose Christiane Raponda was removed from her position.
