The Story of Rose Hill
Rose Hill got its name from the beautiful wild roses that grew all around the area when the first settlers arrived. Imagine a place covered in lovely flowers!
A long time ago, there was a special school here called the Rose Hill Normal Institute. A "normal school" was a type of school that trained teachers. So, Rose Hill helped educate people who would then teach others.
The community also got its own post office in 1888. This made it easier for people to send and receive letters and packages.
There was once a historic building in Rose Hill called the Graham House. It was so important that it was listed on the National Register of Historic Places. Sadly, the house was destroyed in April 2011.
